(2022) Drawing inspiration from the physical location, historical imagery, and personal references, my goal was to create motifs that echo the lively pulse of the restaurant environment. These motifs act as a peephole into a world of restoration, intoxication, and vivid color, while also embracing an honest, raw intensity and tipping point of complete presence.

The facade windows play a significant role in the overall expression, establishing a common thread and rhythmic continuity among the various motifs. I envisioned this as a kind of timeline, where history repeats and reshapes itself. Originally opening as a pharmacy in 1838, Fenix has retained its name while adopting a new identity. The words “Apotek", "recept" and "tablett” link the past and present, resonating with different meanings in both contexts. Once a place of health, it has now become a space for restoration.

During a visit to Götgatan 40 in March, I witnessed the space in a state of transformation —a construction site with a porous plaster floor and cracked walls, revealing fragments of past activities embedded in the space. This interplay of deconstructing history and weaving new narratives mirrors the approach I am taking in this project.

This artwork was comissioned by Svenska Brasserier for the opening of Riche Fenix. It contains 12 oil paintings on wooden panel, with two layers of cut-out MDF creating a thin relief, that were mounted into the walls as a permanent art installation. they vary in size between 70x42 - 130x42 cm.
