(2023) Fanns I Sjön (I.e. Go Fish) evolved around the everyday struggles of finding the right path in life. With themes exploring randomness, the joy of making and turning inward to see what one finds visually. The installation was inspired by the word “Gungfly” (I.e. quagmire) thats refers to a carpet of living and dead plants, peat, driftwood, and other organic matter that floats on water. Metaphorically, it is also used to describe a poorly substantiated theory or opinion — something without a strong foundation. It represents a place that shifts and flows, untethered and adaptable. Gungfly embodies an environment that invites experimentation and embraces failure, where the rules and systems governing its existence have yet to be written or set in stone.
